These watercolor paintings were made for the final project in my figure drawing class. The assignment was to create a series of four drawings of a human figure juxtaposed with an object of my choosing. I chose mushrooms as my "object" for a number of reasons. I want to leave these images open to interpretation so I wont go into too much detail.

My Grandmother is from Germany where it's common practice to pick wild mushrooms from the forests to eat . As a child I used to go mushroom hunting with my grandmother. There is nothing more beautiful than coming across a cluster of fresh wild mushrooms in the forest. The trick is to pick a few and leave the rest to spread their spores.

Common Name: Penny Bun, King Boleta, Porcini, Cep
Scientific Name: Boletus edulis
German Name: Steinpilz "Stone Mushroom"

Fact: Known as the king of mushrooms, it's very large and meaty and considered to be the finest-tasting wild mushroom. It is a real treat to find one of these treasures. They can grow very large, much bigger than the ones shown here.
